This Advanced Georgian Reader is designed for students of Georgian that are already familiar with the foundations of the language and culture. The reader is a comprehensive resource for learners interested in deepening their knowledge by reading linguistically complicated and authentic Georgian texts and by learning the distinguishing characteristics of their lexical, grammatical, and cultural contexts. The book is also for anyone who may wish to be acquainted with English translations of the selected pieces of Georgian literature and writing, never before translated.

The book can be divided into three parts. The first part consists of thirty selections, each followed by an extensive vocabulary list and corresponding footnotes. The second part consists of English translations of all selections, and the third part is a cumulative Georgian-English glossary representing a compilation of all vocabularies.

The selections include journalistic articles, short stories, and essays covering ethnography, art, autobiography, memoir, and satire. A biographical sketch of each author precedes each text and offers the reader the appropriate background information about the peculiarities of the time period in which the text was written.
